Finding a Mason

Note: Always be sure you know what quality you are looking for and find a mason that matches that quality with past work (lots of references) and agree on quality of your work to be done.

Never pay for a job until it is finished and meets the standards previously agreed on.

Mistakes! Evaluate how, the mason you are considering, deals with his mistakes or problems on the job. Determine if this matches your expectations.

  1. Places to Look
    1. Yellow Pages
    2. Building supplies
    3. Building site
    4. Contractors (general and handy man)
    5. Neighbors
    6. Rental Companies

  2. What Kind of Mason do You Want?
    1. Low Quality, Low Cost - These masons usually work around fast paced residential buildings. Their emphasis is on speed and low cost
    2. Mid-Range Quality & Cost - These masons usually work on medium size homes and where there is not much custom/specialized masonry work. Their work will be neat, clean and accurate. Typically working for the smaller general contractor who builds a few houses a year.
    3. Custom High Quality & Cost - These masons are usually found on the very expensive houses doing ornate or unusual work.
    4. Weekender, Wide Range of Quality & Cost - These masons are masons that work another job (usually a commercial masonry job) during the week but take on weekend jobs.
